I’ve been compiling a database of all the plant species growing in the walled garden, whether resident or introduced (not including vegetable growing beds). So far, the total number is approaching 200, though it’s unlikely to be completely exhaustive. No doubt, there are still a fair number of weeds or other resident perennials that haven’t been accounted for yet. Over time, the list will become increasingly accurate, but it does seem that the vast majority of species are already potentially accounted for.
Over time, species may come or go, as some that are introduced may not thrive in this climate. There’s a significant amount of experimentation occurring, which will take some years to understand more fully.
The embedded spreadsheet below will automatically update whenever I add or delete any species or variety. Eventually, I would like to transform this into a far more detailed document, with accompanying images and further information on each plant’s properties and uses.
